Nilton made everyone feel comfortable, was entertaining and informative, answered all our questions, helped us understand what to expect and really gave the group good vibes! Ingrid was a quiet, strong presence and pointed out interesting plants along the hike. Although her English was not as good as Nilton’s she was very attentive to our needs, warm, and always smiling. The lunch was superb - kudos to the chef. The meal was inventive and varied. I am sorry I do not remember his name, but he clearly took pride in his cooking and it showed! The hotel in Agua Calientes was clean, quiet, and comfortable and had a good shower. Only a few minor details that could have improved the experience: The rubber tip on one of my hiking poles was worn through. Since the trail is very rocky, that pole would slip and did not provide much stability. The hotel did not have instructions about the light switches, and I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the bedside lights without turning off all the power. Also, the bedside charging sockets were falling out and did not hold my charger plug in place. Finally, when I went to get my duffel bag before taking the train home, I had a hard time finding it and the other Alpaca guides couldn’t find it either! It would help to put a sign over each group’s bags. Overall this was a great trip and I would definitely recommend it to my friends.Posted on TripadvisorVerified The best Inca Trail experience we could have asked for! My daughter and I have just finished the 5 day 4 night Inca Trail with Valentin as our guide and it was an absolutely outstanding experience! Valentin looked after us soooo well! He's an absolute 5 star guide! I was very slow up the hills but he was so patient waiting for me and not trying to hassle me or push me along. He was full of information and was able to answer all our questions. My daughter is an avid bird watcher and while waiting for me to catch up, he would help her identify many new birds. 😅 Our chef Timoteo prepared an absolute banquet for us at every meal - even baking a cake for us for our final night. And he did all that on a 2 burner camping stove! And the porters are the workhorse of the whole team. The size and weight of the packs they carry is unbelievable, yet they all do it so willingly and with a smile. Packing up after we leave, passing us on the track and then setting everything up ahead of us for our arrival. A huge thank you to Valentin, Timoteo, and all the porters! Did the Alpaca five day four night Salkantay machu pichu trek with Wilber ocon and Kenyo as our guides. We were a family of three including our teenage daughter and the arrangements far exceeded our expectations. The whole team, including the porters and the cooks worked very hard to make the trek as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Even while climbing the steepest of hills, they kept a very pleasant demeanor and attitude that rubbed off on all of us. We were so impressed with Rolando and Romario (our guides) as well as our chef Benedicto and incredible porters. This amazing Alpaca team made this already unforgettable experience even better than I could have imagined - to the point where I would love to come back and do it again with them some day! Valentin shared heaps of local and insider knowledge (thanks to his many years of experience and hundreds of times completing the trail), and he was very patient and encouraging for us, while also encouraging us to enjoy the walk and take it all in along the way. He is also super funny and knew all the best photo spots! Timoteo created the most amazing dishes that would be worthy of five stars in a restaurant - let alone camping! Booking online was easy and fast and pre-travel communication was clear. They had an office in Cusco and we checked in the day before we left to arrange the final pick-up details. The travel experience, accommodations, food and site experiences were all top-notch, and we felt like the company took special care of us. But one of the real highlights in a trip full of amazing moments was our guide, David Condori Villanueva. David is a kind, generous, upbeat and knowledgeable guide whose passion for the culture, history and science of his place is truly evident. He constantly went above and beyond to give us his time and his positive personality so we had the best experience we could. For two days we honestly felt like we were part of his extended Peruvian family.
